Welcome to 2009

It's crept up and happenned just like that .A New Year has begun. Apparantly the last one ended in a great practica at 'Julienetta' Jans' Bay St. Open air Practica. ( P.S. This not yet the official name but I stole the idea from the open air 'Glorietta' milonga in B.A. and Julien Rocks just off our coast. So untill it's renamed that's what I'll be calling it.)

The next Julienetta will be happening at 2pm. Sun. 11th Jan. on the Bay St. verandah along from the Beach Hotel, Byron Bay and every 2nd and 4th. Sun of the Month.

Contact Jan for details.

The next Milonga will be on Sat March 7th at 8.30 p.m. at Ewingsdale Hall nr. Byron Bay.

THE TANGO SUMMER CLUB WILL CONTINUE FROM WED 7TH JAN. TO JAN.28TH.

THIS WILL BE ONE CLASS ON WED. EVENINGS FROM 7P.M TILL 8.30PM. WITH A  30 MINUTE PRACTICA AFTERWARDS . ALL LEVELS OF STUDENTS ARE WELCOME.

ALL SUMMER CLUB CLASSES WILL START WITH TECHNIQUE AND TIMING AND BASICS AND WILL PROGRESS TO FIGURES. (NONE TOO HARD) AND STUDENTS WILL WORK WITHIN THERE OWN CAPABILITY AND WITH STUDENTS OF ROUGHLY THE SAME LEVEL.

I AM PLANNING TO DO SOME MILONGA STYLE WITH SOME NICE LITTLE STEPS FROM  (WORLD CHAMPION) SEBASTIANS LAST WORKSHOPS IN BRISBANE.

IT WILL BE AN UPFRONT FEE OF $ 50.00 FOR 5 CLASSES WHICH IS $10.00 FOR A TWO HOUR SESSION. A LARGE REDUCTION TO ALLOW FOR ANY CLASSES MISSED DUE TO HOLIDAYS. OR IF YOU ARE JUST JOINING FOR ONE OR TWO CLASSES $15.00/CLASS

IT'S A GREAT WAY TO STAY IN TOUCH WITH TANGO OVER THE HOLIDAY DEAD PERIOD.

IT'S ALSO A GOOD WAY TO MEET OTHER STUDENTS.

THE CLASSES ARE INFORMAL AND YOU MAY BRING WINE OR SUCH FOR THE AFTER CLASS PRACTICA IF DESIRED.

LAST YEAR WAS ENJOYED BY ALL WHO ATTENDED I AM TOLD.

TERM CLASSES WILL START AGAIN ON WED FEB. 4TH. FOR EXISTING STUDENTS.

IMPROVERS 6.15.PM.

INTERMEDIATE 7.30.P.M. BOTH AT EWINGSDALE HALL BYRON

BEGINNERS WILL START ON MON. FEB.9TH AT 6.15PM. AT THE UNITING CHURCH HALL .MULLUMBIMBY

THANKYOU TO ALL MY STUDENTS WHO HAVE ATTENTED CLASSES LAST YEAR. NOT ONLY DOES IT HELP ME SURVIVE BUT IT HAS BEEN A GREAT PLEASURE TO SEE THE TANGO COMMUNITY GROW AND IMPROVE.IT CHEERS THE COCKLES OF MY WEE HEART TO SEE YOU ENJOYING TANGO TOGETHER. NOW THAT WE HAVE OUR NEW FLOOR AND A GREAT NEW PLACE TO DANCE OUR PRACTICAS, IT WILL OPEN TANGO UP TO THE PUBLIC EYE ON A REGULAR AND UNCOMPLICATED BASIS AND WHO KNOWS, WE MAY GROW EVEN MORE. I KNOW YOU WILL JOIN ME IN THANKING JAN FOR HER INSPIRATION, PERSISTANCE AND EFFORT IN MAKING THIS HAPPEN. THANKYOU ALL FOR KEEPING OUR BYRON COMMUNITY WARM WELCOLMING AND EGO FREE. IT MAKES VERY SPECIAL.

I TRUST WE HAVE ANOTHER YEAR OF FUN AND LEARNING AHEAD OF US.

THANKYOU TO ALL VISITING TEACHERS AND VISITORS WHO HAVE ENRICHED OUR TANGO MOMENTS. WE APPRECIATE YOU ALL AND WELCOLME YOU BACK AGAIN THIS YEAR.

Last classes and new classes
Written by master

Hi all tangonuts, Just an update of what's happening.

classes will resume this  week;- Wed. 18th.April @ Ewingsdale Hall,Byron, 7.30 p.m.

                                                  Thurs.19th @  St. Martins Mullumbimby, 7.00p.m.

                                                   Fri. 20th.@ Autumn club,Marwillumbah, 6.00 p.m.

Next Wed. 25th. Anne, who will be taking over classes untill July will attend the 7.30p.m. class at Ewingsdale. The purpose of this is to meet the Intermediate students and see what we're up to.Please attend this class if you can.

Anne comes to us with lots of experience  and learning in Buenos Aires where she has spent a lot of time. She is equiped to teach both the lead and follow and I hope you will make her welcome in my absence.

The following Wed.May 2 nd. will be my last Wed.  I invite everyone who intends to continue their tango classes to attend one of two classes on this night and to stay for a wee drink and dance afterwards. The classes will be taght by Anne with my assistance so she can find her feet with ye'all.I have asked her to teach two classes every Wed. and these classes will combine all levels into two groupings.

The first starting at 6.15 p.m. will be for all students not currently in the Intermediate class although you can work out your own suitable placement with Anne in due course. It is important to note that this class will only continue if the numbers are sufficient so all students from Bangalow, Mullum, and Murwillumbah  or any other place who are interested must show up on Wed May 2nd or advise me of their interest.Anne will bring a couple of students and hopefully some of them will be men.

To make life easier for Anne I would like you all to pay for next term in advance by May 2nd.( Also I have to pay costs up-front so this would help a good deal.)

The 8 week term which is May 9th.--June 27 th. will cost $100.00. Also anyone who has outstanding payments for this term please finalize these by same date.

Anne may also accept drop ins at $15 /class but please commit if you can as she is making the journey from the Gold Coast on your behalf..

I have extended my trip to include a return visit to B.A. in August and I will try to make arrangements for this in due course. Kim has offered to play a part in this second term.

I will now be able to watch my two 'hatchlings' Jan and Hosannah, who both won 1st. prize in their respective sections in the National heats at the Opera House, compete in B.A at the semi finals and possible also  the finals.Who knows?

Isn't nice to know that little Byron Bay creates National winners.I am very proud of my two 'babies' who started with me way back in 2000?I admit that a few other teachers  MAY  have had a hand in their  success but we won't go into that!! It's brilliant anyway ,even if I'm not into comps'.

Thank you all for enjoying Tango with me up to this point.I hope you will learn lots of new stuff from Anne and will keep Tango alive till my return in Sep.   lots of love and besos          ange

Welcome to Sreet Tango

HI Tangueros,Tangueras

Well off we go again for 2007 which for some reason feels like a good and positive year.

It feels great to know that a lot of you won’t be facing the effects of 2 months break but instead have lots of new aspects of tango to think about.

Summer club has been a great success and apart from all the technique we’ve covered, with some much enjoyed and appreciated help from Moshlo for the first 2 classes, it’s been great to see all the groups get to know each other.  I hope this will encourage you to come to our Milongas.

On that note I have had requests to keep the general level technique class going on a Wednesday and so I am going to give it a try for a while.  So Wednesday will commence at 6:30pm for warm up (please make use of this time or it will vanish).  Class will start at 6:45pm – 7:45pm and will finish with 15 minutes assisted practica. Intermediate students may utilise this time to warm up
